Patrick Cain is not your conventional Los Angeles-based designer and artist. Before Patrick Cain Designs, he was a nuclear materials scientist, hair model, reporter, and pie baker. In fact, he never intended to own a design company – or even be a creative. His journey began around 2012. What was supposed to be a home improvement project to distract himself from a break-up ended up as a live edge table.

After posting it on Craig’s List, the live edge table was featured on Apartment Therapy, which caught the attention of Architectural Digest. Dwell Magazine soon follows. The unexpected momentum of his first table has only From there, Patrick had momentum and never stopped.

Over a decade later, he continues to create but not out of heartbreak — out of love. Love of science, design, art, and creating beautiful pieces that bring joy to whoever enters its space.
